Supervision and consultation are two terms that are thrown around the mental health field quite frequently. We hear about supervision throughout our higher education career. It starts with our first internship and then the term moves with us through getting our supervised hours as budding clinicians.
Then once we are out in the real world, we work on supervision hours towards independent licensure for least two years. After we finish those hours, we then have the luxury of continuing supervision or moving into more of a consultation type of relationship. You would think with all these years and hours of supervision we would be good at knowing what to look for in a good supervisor or consultant, but it is not that cut and dry.
In this week’s vlog, I share with you the difference between consultation and supervision, why you should engage in these professional relationships, and what you should look for to make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck.
If you are looking for some supervision (local to West Bloomfield, MI only) or consultation (worldwide), check out my services HERE.
